Have had some queries regarding publication dates for the fourth edition of Module and Electives textbooks and Discovery. Rather than answer individually, it is easier to say that Standard Module and Electives and 'Discovery' AOS should be published by the end of this tern. The Advanced Modules and Electives will not be ready until late next term.
A twelve month lead in to begin teaching the new texts is difficult enough for teachers trying to read or view and assess the suitability of new texts for their classes, let alone organise resources in time. I fully appreciate how eager teachers are to get hold of detailed resources and I have done my best to evaluate the new texts on the list and write detailed evaluations of text with reference to rubric requirements. Across the three texts, I think I have analysed more than 62 poems, 9 plays, 9 novels, 6 films and so on- daunting even when I add them up.
'Discovery' and the Standard Modules and Electives should be published later this term and hopefully, Advanced Modules and Electives later in Term Four. All three texts are more detailed and larger than the three previous editions; the focus being on offering teachers thorough analysis of the prescribed texts. Content lists will be posted next week to give some guidelines about the texts that I have chosen to examine. My aim this year has been to cover more of the prescribed texts and so no related texts are done for either the Advanced or Standard Electives and Modules. A few selected related texts will be included for 'Discovery'.
Hope this information helps those teachers already snowed under with Trial paper marking while still getting organised for Term IV HSC.
Rest assured, I am as anxious to get them published as you are, so hopefully we can all breathe a collective sigh of relief when they are done and you are pleased with the results.
